Rose of Sharon

I did not only shop on our trip to PEI
I had brought my hand quilting basket  and did

 Block #3 hand appliqué

for my Rose of Sharon
How many more to go???
Oh! but I am not complaining as I had decided this was a long term project.

As mentioned in my previous post it is time  to get ready for the return to the Guild meetings.
When we broke off for the summer months I gave the members a challenge to make a snowball block during the summer and we will gather them all to make a quilt for the "Blanket of Love " for the Mental Health Unit at the Yarmouth Hospital .
Here are my blocks:
I choose machine embroidery and it gave me the fever to make a full size quilt with blocks machine embroidered.
We will have a parade of all the blocks made by the members and I will have pictures. I look forward to seeing the quilt all put together.
Happy Labour day and enjoy the long week-end!
More time to sew:)

Whew it is Hot!

But we must plan for the fall.
The guild will reconvene on September the 5th and our first all day workshop will be on the 15th, so I made these;

This pattern is called Table Topper Spinner and it is made using the 10º Wedge ruler

The first one is made with Batiks but as not everyone is fond of Batiks I made this one

with Buggy Barn fabric for samples of the project we will be making at the workshop.

This summer heat makes it perfect for sitting at the sewing machine. There is no way we can enjoy the outdoors. The pool water was 98º.. not good for cooling off!

Our trip was fun and Gerald did get to read a whole book while waiting for me in the quilt shops.

Another successful show....and a special visit

Our show was a great success thanks in part to the guild members who  volunteered their time all week. Thanks to the hundreds of visitors who came to see the display in our little Acadian corner. The excitement was built up all week and on Friday a very special  guest drove the 6 hour drive to visit the show. Karen Neary and hubby. Soooooo good to see them both. I just wish we would have had more time. Oh well October will soon be here for her workshop "Roundabout" to which  I am registered.
